Selling out the El Rey last night to promote her new album Volume 2 for her band She and Him, Zooey's eclectic, old school vibe and cute girlie personality light up the stage. She's a bright star on the screen and behind the microphone. Rock on Zooey..we love you!!

Waffle Treats

Of course today is International Waffle Day! It's always time for breakfast in my book! Picture is from The  Griddle Cafe which I have been wanting to try for awhile now. Brunch anyone? So head on down to The Griddle, The Waffle, stop by your Buttermilk Truck or even get your own waffle iron out and chow down on some waffles for this Spring celebration. Mmmmm...

Spring Time Eats

Spring is officially here. The birds are chirping, leaves are falling and flowers blooming, the sun is out...and so are the new bathing suits! Ahhh..nightmare! All my holiday and winter rain eating has caught up with me, and now its time to buckle down before Summer. No Luther Burgers for me...aka cheese burger with 2 fried glaze donuts instead of buns...stop stop stop!! Probably why I haven't been writing as much..less booze and eats..boo! But not to worry I'm not going anywhere I can still have a weekly cheat day..yay! So in the meantime..here is my favorite diet dinner in Los Feliz. San Sui Japanese Country Cuisine edamame, miso soup, and grilled teriyaki salmon with brown rice. So addictive! I had it 2 nights in a row :) They also have amazing  fresh rolls here, and even some crazy good veggie rolls like yam, pumpkin and squash roll and their Spring Rolls. Also be sure to check out the special board and the special roll list..like the Hillhurst Roll and The Happy Roll! Low cal drink of choice..green iced tea..tastes and looks just like green tea ice cream..without the cream.

Kristie And Anna's Very Happy Un-Birthday!!

A day filled with Alice! First a Mad Hatter inspired afternoon tea at the London West Hollywood Hotel's restaurant The Box Wood(or The Box). You get to pick from an array of teas from a wooden box with pungent flavors of tangerine, berry, mint, jasmine, and chamomile. We picked the traditional English Breakfast Tea so we could drink it with milk and sugar, and get a little caffeine boost. A three-tiered tray comes out with scones, mini sandwiches and more deserts than any one person should eat. Brightly colored cookies, cakes, fruit tarts, mousse, a donut gem mushroom cake, and chocolates filled our bellies. They give you cherries and purple whipped cream to top the blueberry scones and some kind of fresh strawberry coconut-lime whipped something that was amazing. All that sugar deffinitly made me mad, it's no wonder Hatter and his friends are so crazy. Tea is served everyday from 3until 5. Alice in Wonderland themed only for the month of March.
Even though we were not guests of the hotel they were generous enough to escort us up to the pool and bar area. It looked like something out of a movie. A clear water pool on the rooftop over looking all of Los Angeles. The lounge chairs and cabanas were filled with men all wearing white t-shirts...is there some kind of weird dress code? Enjoying the view(s) :) with the hot sun and cool breezes we plan on coming back here when we have our bathing suits in hand.
Then off to the movies to see Alice In Wonderland! The nostalgic Vista theater on Sunset in Hollywood. The visuals were great and Johnny Depp was his always amazing self. Tim Burton made the movie with some eye catching fun, but I think he should of stuck with the original story line.
All in all a fun day! Thanks Peach! :)

Pinch Me

Because I probably wont be wearing green, but I'll sure be drinking it! On the day everyone wants to be Irish I'll have my fill of green beer, Guinness, my favorite Irish Car Bombs, Jameson and Celtic Crossing shots. There is a new shot Iv'e heard of with Guinness and a shot of vanilla vodka...interesting. Maybe I'll try that too.Happy St. Patty's Day to everyone!

Oh My Umami

Who hasn't been here yet? My new obsession...Umami Burger. Fairly new to Los Feliz on Hollywood Blvd. Why did I not go sooner, or perhaps it was a mistake to go at all being that it is now all I can think about! Known as the "fifth taste" arousing all your senses indeed. I tried the signature Umami Burger. Cooked perfectly, juicy, sweet, sour, and with their own homemade ketchup and caramelized onions, shiitake's, crispy parmesan, with a bun that is not to bread-y. Absolutely amazing. As soon I left I wanted another burger. Do they put crack in these things?! I don't care if they do..something is keeping my every thought on those tantalizing, teasing me burgers. I want one now...ugh!!
They offer an array of sides, but I got the special of the day..cheesy homemade tater tots with a side of jalapeno sour cream..yum! With a good selection of beers, Mexican cokes, intensely good green iced tea, wine, meal specials including fries and beer, root beer floats, and beer floats?! This is deffinitly my new spot. So if you are in the area check it out..but please don't forget to call me first!

Be Still My Heart

My favorite place in LA to watch a movie in the afternoon alone..The Los Feliz 3. Movie of choice..Crazy Heart! After the always loved Jeff Bridges won his Oscar last night I rushed to see his film. About a drunk, down and out country singer..hits home for me. Even when he is a sweaty, smelly drunken mess you still want to like him, or even love him..and he is still hot! Amazing acting from everyone in the film. Hey Maggie Gyllenhaal..how does it feel to make out with Jeff and be married to Peter Sarsgaard? Jealous! Playing at the 3 until March 11..make it happen. And visit his site..very cool! jeffbridges.com

K Town Bound

Village Treats in K town..Pho-sure! If you're looking for some Korean BBQ...go to K town now! Just look for the big Pig out front for some amazing  meats, fried rice and array of dipping sauces and veggies that you cook yourself. Oh..and did I mention it's all you can eat. Finishing off many bottles of Hite Beer..yum, (a new favorite) and green tea water, we stuffed ourselves to no end! I have picture of the aftermath..haha..hi Anna!
But wait..there's more! There is always room for dessert right? Just down the street is Ice Kiss. A mix of ice cream, shaved ice, whip cream, banana, strawberry, fruit cocktail, fruity pebbles, and mochi! Few..I'm tired just talking about it. They offer different sizes, we ate ours out of a dog bowl. If its in a dog bowl it's got to be good. Try the Monster size for big groups or if you're just feeling frisky! Even after the tasty delights of BBQ beef and chicken, our Ice Kiss was gone in an instant..so delish! My favorite was Taro flavored, and it's purple!  Can't wait to go back and try green tea or chocolate. Lets dig in!!!

And The Answer Is Simple...And The Answer IS..

PIZZA!
Pizza, pizza pizza. After working at Round Table Pizza for 6 years when I was young and eating pizza there everyday for free..I still cant get enough pizza. From the wise words Lelaina Pierce's debauched video blog in Reality Bites...pizza just may be the answer to life. A perfectly harmonious round pie of layered veggies and meats symbolizing the continuous circle of our lives. All four food groups living happily together. Maybe we can learn something from this cheesy goodness, or at least take from it a little joy. Share your joy...here are some of my favorite pizza places in the LA area, please share yours!
Big Mama Papa Pizza
Palermo
Leo's Allstar Bar and Grill
Hard Times Pizza
Lucifer's
Nicky D's
Casa Bianca
Tomato Pie Pizza Joint
